Seina: a Tale of Spirits has received a free demo on Steam, offering players their first hands on look at the cozy adventure developed by solo developer Argyro Brotsi. The experience follows Mika as she searches for her missing cat, Seina, while traveling through a hand painted watercolor spirit world filled with misty forests, ancient shrines and gentle creatures.

The game focuses on peaceful exploration and features no combat or fail states, allowing players to progress at their own pace. The journey combines light environmental puzzles, hidden paths and small quests involving spirit animals, while each area is designed to resemble a storybook, with vibrant colors, gentle music and details that reward careful exploration.

Mika's journey begins after her beloved cat mysteriously disappears, leading her into a forgotten world overtaken by vegetation, where moss covered shrines and quiet spirits preserve memories of another time. The setting was inspired by Argyro Brotsi's travels through traditional Japanese villages, incorporating watercolor landscapes and delicate creature designs that reinforce the charm associated with Studio Ghibli's animations.

The project's origins are directly connected to the developer's personal experience during her honeymoon trip to Japan. "Seina started in a small Japanese village, not at a desk," said Argyro Brotsi, solo developer and founder of Pofupofu Studios. "I fell in love with the quiet of those places, the way the light fell through the trees, the way nothing was in a hurry, and I wanted to give people somewhere to step into that feeling. The whole game is my love letter to that trip."

The story also explores themes of connection and kindness through a heartfelt, family friendly narrative, suggesting that searching for something that has been lost can lead to unexpected discoveries. The full release is planned for PC and consoles, while the currently available demo offers a glimpse into this contemplative world and the relaxed pace intended to define the complete experience.
