Schrodinger's Cat Burglar, the upcoming project from Brisbane based studio Abandoned Sheep, has been officially set to launch on May 21 via Steam, bringing together humor, science fiction and logic driven challenges in a distinctive adventure led by an unusual feline protagonist.

In the story, players take on the role of Mittens, a cat who gains extraordinary abilities after a heist goes wrong and places her at the center of a quantum experiment. From that moment on, she can exist in two places at once, a power that becomes essential for solving puzzles and progressing through a laboratory filled with traps and hidden secrets.

The game is structured around a series of test chambers that explore theoretical concepts of space and time, requiring players to carefully manipulate objects, energy and positioning. At the same time, it maintains a lighthearted tone, encouraging exploration and playful mischief as Mittens narrowly avoids capture.

Customization also plays a key role, allowing players to tailor Mittens’ appearance with different hats, accessories, breeds and even levels of feline chonkiness, adding personality to the overall experience and balancing complex puzzles with a charming presentation.

Another highlight is the drop in drop out local co op mode, enabling a second player to join at any time. The feature is compatible with Steam Remote Play Together, expanding cooperative possibilities even for those playing remotely.

As players progress, new elements emerge, including secret areas, quirky robotic mice and challenging quantum fragments designed for puzzle enthusiasts seeking a higher level of difficulty. Still, the game preserves its playful spirit, leaving room for more relaxed and experimental interactions within its scientific setting.

The narrative unfolds gradually through exploration, raising questions about the facility’s true purpose, the role of pest control machines and the identity of a mysterious figure known as the Shadow Cat, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the experience.

"Schrodinger's Cat Burglar started life as fun, learn to program hobby project." said Martin Binfield, director at Abandoned Sheep. "Now, eight years after having started and in the company of an amazing team, I'm beside myself to be able to share the game with the world. This has been a labour of love all the way, and I sincerely hope that love is apparent to the player."
