Independent developer Enchanted Pumpkin Co. has confirmed the return of the updated demo for Pumpkin Woods on May 26 as part of the Witches, Wizards and Warlocks Sale and ahead of Steam Next Fest, which takes place from June 15 to 22. The new version introduces a major visual overhaul alongside fresh content and additional interactive systems that expand the overall experience before the game enters early access in late August 2026.

Set in a dark yet cozy autumn woodland, the project blends open world survival mechanics with witch themed fantasy, combining free exploration, seasonal atmosphere, and magical elements. The definitive demo offers players a deeper look at the core gameplay systems before the title appears at Steam Next Fest, an event known for spotlighting upcoming games with playable demos on the platform.

According to Nicholas Lorenzi, lead developer at Enchanted Pumpkin Co., the new stage marks an important milestone for the project. “This is a major step forward for Pumpkin Woods. We’ve improved the visuals, expanded the experience, and added new ways for players to interact with the world. You can even pet the cats. It’s the best version of the demo so far, and we’re excited to share it ahead of Steam Next Fest”, he said.

Among the featured mechanics is the ability to explore the world using a stylish traveler wagon, while also customizing a secluded witch cabin with different furniture and outfits. The survival systems include gathering magical items and dealing with the harsh conditions of the forest, encouraging resource management throughout the adventure.

The game also includes potion crafting and trading systems with merchants scattered across the map. Players will be able to collect ingredients, create magical items, and build relationships with villagers, including adopting companions such as cats and unicorns, reinforcing the adventure’s warm and fantastical tone.

Another major highlight is the atmosphere built around aerial exploration using an enchanted broom, allowing players to discover magical locations and richly detailed landscapes while the presentation embraces warm colors and an autumn inspired aesthetic.
