Developed by Blackmum, Overbooked puts players behind the reception desk of a hotel managed by a giant panda who is far from committed to his responsibilities. Taking on the role of a red panda tasked with keeping the establishment running, players must handle a constant stream of guests, meet corporate targets, and manage limited space while dealing with demands from a manager who does little to make the job easier. With a demo already available on Steam, the game is scheduled to launch on the platform on December 29.
The game combines roguelike elements with deckbuilding mechanics in a pixel art presentation where rooms, furniture, items, and guests are all represented by cards. Organizing these elements requires careful planning to make the most of the available space, accommodate customers before they decide to leave, and avoid losing Reputation. More than 200 animal guests with distinct characteristics are part of the experience, offering different possibilities for organization and management.
Deckbuilding allows players to experiment with combinations of rooms, furniture, and guests, creating synergies capable of producing unexpected effects. While customers pay for each night's stay, checking out generates Reputation, making guest turnover an important part of the strategy. Balancing revenue, available space, and visitor satisfaction determines the hotel's performance throughout each run.
The Panda Manager also directly influences each run by introducing unexpected challenges and mechanics that change the conditions of hotel management. In addition to the variety of guests, the game features different guest variants, secret organizations, an expanding collection of rooms, furniture, and items, as well as unusual events and hidden secrets that broaden the possibilities of each attempt.
