MadGoat Game Studio is bringing an intense roguelike action experience with Netherworld Covenant, a dark fantasy 3D isometric game. Featuring precision-based combat and the innovative "Soul Companion" system, the playable demo is now available on the store page and will remain accessible throughout Steam Next Fest.
Players take on the role of a survivor of a great disaster, wielding the Ethereal Torch—a forbidden artifact that connects the world of the living to the netherworld. This azure flame allows them to forge pacts with the souls of fallen warriors and summon them to face corrupted heroes and demonic lords in procedurally generated labyrinths. “The flame not only illuminates the path but also grants the power for the dead to reclaim their mortal form and fulfill their forgotten oaths.”
Combat prioritizes tactical mastery over executing frantic combos. Players must parry attacks, dodge, and use the Ethereal Dash to evade incoming strikes, countering with lethal precision. Additionally, the Soul Companion system allows summoning spectral allies with unique abilities, such as the Swordsman, Ranger, Guardian, and Rogue. These spirits can phase through obstacles, ambush enemies, or even save the player from fatal attacks by shifting dimensions at the last moment.
The bosses that await are legends corrupted by malevolent energy—fallen lords, once-noble knights, and primordial demons. At the border camp between worlds, players can gather spectral allies, enhance weapons infused with demonic blood, and uncover fragments of the truth behind the calamity. “The Torch’s light reveals no salvation, only the risk of a pact: as spectral forces tear through demonic throats, the wielder’s name may yet become another epitaph on the Covenant Stone.”
The Netherworld Covenant demo is now available for testing, inviting all players to dive into its dark and challenging world during Steam Next Fest.
