Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack have confirmed that Mortal Shell II will launch worldwide in digital format on August 20, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are now available across all digital platforms, while the PS5 exclusive physical Revered Edition can also be reserved through selected retailers.

The announcement follows the game's highly successful Steam beta, which surpassed 500,000 downloads in less than two weeks. The testing period also generated significant attention across video platforms, accumulating more than 6 million combined views on YouTube, Twitch, and short form video services.

The release date was revealed alongside a new trailer featuring the song "Darker Thoughts" by the pioneering British metal band Paradise Lost. The video offers the first complete look at all eight playable Shells that players will discover throughout the action RPG's interconnected open world.

Players who pre-purchase the digital Devout Edition will be able to begin their adventure up to 72 hours before the official launch through the Advanced Access program, available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This edition also includes eight exclusive Obsidian Shell skins.

In addition to the digital release, the game will also arrive in a physical edition for PlayStation 5 on the same day. The Revered Edition includes a comprehensive artbook, an exclusive Steelbook, limited edition fine art prints, and a specially designed collector's box.

Developed over the course of more than four years, the dark fantasy action RPG has been designed as a fully standalone sequel, allowing newcomers to experience the complete adventure without any prior knowledge of the original game. The single player campaign combines exploration, storytelling, and intense melee and ranged combat against relentless enemies.

Throughout the journey, players will awaken and inhabit Shells, the dormant forms of forgotten warriors scattered across the world's ruins. Each one features unique abilities, distinct combat styles, and hidden memories that expand the narrative while allowing players to tailor their approach to every encounter.

The interconnected open world has been designed to be compact while remaining rich in content, linking winding paths, more than 60 handcrafted dungeons, and numerous hidden secrets. Exploration rewards players with new weapons, upgrades, curiosities, story elements, and powerful equipment that significantly expand combat possibilities.
