Jagex and Games by Malcs are excited to announce that the incremental game Melvor Idle will be part of the 5th Edition of the Green Game Jam, an initiative organized by the Playing for the Planet Alliance to promote environmental changes through concrete actions. The event kicked off on September 9th and highlights the studios' commitment to sustainable causes.

Inspired by RuneScape, Melvor Idle is known for its rich mechanics and immersive player experience. For the Green Game Jam 2024, the game introduced Melvor Active, a real-world activity that highlights three specific skills to promote sustainable habits and positive changes in players' daily lives. Launched on September 9th, this initiative connects directly with Melvor Idle’s gameplay.

The sustainability effort focuses on three key themes: Food, Waste, and Restoration. Each of these themes corresponds to the in-game skills of Farming, Cooking, and Crafting, and will be highlighted weekly until the end of September. The goal is to encourage players to adopt habits that lead to a more sustainable life, such as composting food scraps, reusing seeds for growing crops, and creating new items from recycled materials.

Research shows that small incremental changes have a lasting impact on attitudes toward climate action. Following this idea, Melvor Idle will use a continuous cycle to motivate participants to make small alterations that can lead to real changes in their routines.

The Melvor Active event will be featured in-game until September 30th. Players are encouraged to share their participation on social media using the hashtag #GreenGameJam and decorate their photos with themed stickers. Melvor Idle is available on Steam, iOS, and Android.
