When asked about the inspiration behind the game, Chad Crumbaker, the solo developer behind KRUMB Games, shared: “Mekkablood was inspired by my love for mech games and the boomer shooter genre. To come up with ideas, I walk around in nature and jot down anything that feels like a good idea others might enjoy.” This creative process led to a blend of classic shooter mechanics with the quirky story of Bill and his trusty Mekk.

The gameplay delivers relentless action with unique twists. Crumbaker explained: “The gameplay is fast-paced, with almost constant action, key-finding, and battling a variety of enemies, each with their own mechanics. The Mekk's movement is something new to the genre, adding depth to the combat experience.” The variety of weapons and the dynamic flow of battles promise to keep players on their toes.

Creating the futuristic world of 2082 posed unique challenges, especially for a solo developer. “The hardest part was learning Unreal Engine 5 for the things I didn’t already know how to do. While time-consuming, creating content was straightforward,” said Crumbaker. Despite the hurdles, the setting comes alive with vibrant visuals and immersive storytelling.

With the release date approaching, Crumbaker shared his hopes for the game: “My main goal is to provide an experience that players will love. I want Mekkablood to feel like a home away from home within Bill's dirty mech, captivating players until they finish the game.” Although there are no immediate plans for post-launch content, the game is packed with enough action and secrets to keep players engaged for hours.

The game’s humor and personality shine through its details, such as hidden areas where players can find collectibles to customize their Mekk's cockpit. These small touches, combined with the intense combat and unique setting, make Mekkablood a standout addition to the genre.
