Independent studio MapleTaco has officially released Left Fore Dead: Zombie Battle Golf, now available on Steam, introducing a unique concept that blends arcade golf with zombie survival. Designed for one to four players in both online and local co-op, the game challenges participants to complete outrageous courses while battling undead enemies, using weapons, and taking advantage of environmental hazards to reach the end of each round.
The gameplay combines precision and improvisation by turning every shot into a strategic decision. A perfectly aimed swing can attract a horde lurking in the fog, while permanent friendly fire ensures that teammates can be just as dangerous as the zombies themselves. Rather than relying on scripted events, each match unfolds through the unpredictable interactions between players, the environment, and the undead, creating a different experience every time.
Rounds last between five and fifteen minutes and are designed for quick restarts filled with emergent comedy. Players must constantly weigh risk against reward, deciding whether to play it safe or attempt ambitious shots while also choosing whether to support their teammates or quietly sabotage their progress for the sake of even greater chaos.
The concept originated during the development of another golf project at MapleTaco, when the team began experimenting with unusual genre combinations. "We wanted it to feel chaotic, but still readable, the kind of chaos where players understand what happened, laugh about it and immediately want to try something worse on their friends. Once we started asking 'what if you could hit other players too?', the game stopped being about surviving a horde and became a playground where friends create their own memorable disasters," said Chris from the MapleTaco development team.
Among the game's highlights are three distinct locations, including a golf course that gradually stops feeling like one, a ruined city, and a cramped subway system. Zombies react to every shot, turning each swing into a meaningful risk and reward decision, while weapons, environmental mechanics, and the deadly fog create fast paced matches filled with constant chaos and high replay value.
