Acclaim has announced that it will publish Kidbash: Super Legend, a new roguelike action platformer developed by Indonesian indie studios Authentic Remixes and Fat Raccoon. The partnership marks an important milestone for the project, which is scheduled to launch in early 2027 on Steam and consoles, expanding the reach of a production that draws inspiration from classic games while aiming to captivate a new generation of players.
The adventure presents Kidbash, a forgotten hero who awakens in a world inhabited by abandoned video game characters with no memory of his past. With only his name and a strong desire to become a true hero, he begins a journey filled with redemption, training, and discovery as he searches for answers about his identity and his place within this unusual world.
According to Marc Anthony Rodriguez, Director of Publishing & Strategic Partnerships at Acclaim, the project immediately captured the team's attention. “Kidbash grabbed all of our attention, instantly. It feels like somebody uncovered a lost action classic from the PS3/Dreamcast era and gave it a modern 2020's soul. Authentic Remixes & Fat Raccoon built something with real style, real gameplay, and a ton of personality.”
The executive also highlighted the game's visual style and creative vision. “The second we saw the claymation-real 'Laika-esque' vibe of the game world, the mash-up weapon combat, and the sheer energy of it all moving together, we knew this game had something special. This is exactly the kind of bold, memorable indie game Acclaim was brought back to champion!”, Rodriguez said.
Inspired by classic adventures such as the Mega Man series and the world of Kirby, the title combines fast paced action, exploration, and deep roguelike progression systems. Its art direction embraces an aesthetic inspired by clay animation, bringing expressive characters and vibrant environments to life while reinforcing the personality of its unique world.
The announcement was accompanied by a new cinematic trailer that offers a detailed first look at the game's cast of characters, diorama inspired environments, massive bosses, and previously unseen gameplay footage. The trailer showcases the blend of frenetic combat and expansive platforming that defines the overall experience.
Throughout the journey, players will be able to take advantage of a weapon fusion system that allows different weapons to be combined after filling a special meter by defeating enemies. The result is a set of more powerful tools with unique characteristics, expanding combat possibilities and encouraging experimentation. This variety is further enhanced by modifiers collected during each run, which can improve both exploration and combat abilities and remain active even after weapons are fused.
Progression is also tied to the rebuilding of Mandala Village, which was destroyed before the events of the story. By helping a cast of forgotten characters restore their community, players unlock permanent upgrades for the protagonist, making the village's growth directly influence character development and overall progression.
Blending nostalgia, humor, creative combat, and long term progression, the game aims to appeal to fans of action platformers while establishing its own distinct identity. The partnership with Acclaim further raises expectations for the project ahead of its planned release in early 2027.
