Enotria: The Last Song made a strong debut at gamescom 2024, capturing fans' attention with a new gameplay trailer and a hands-on demo that highlighted its vibrant world inspired by Italian folklore. Developed by Jyamma Games, this Soulslike offers a culturally rich experience, providing a fresh perspective on the combat players can expect before the game’s launch next month. The game’s presence at the event in Cologne, Germany, was marked by the latest demo, available for attendees at Hall 10.1 C080.
“gamescom has been an incredible opportunity for us to showcase Enotria: The Last Song in a way that resonates with our vision for the game,” commented the team at Jyamma Games. “Being able to share our inspiration from Italian folklore and see players interact with these elements in the game has been a deeply rewarding experience.”
During the demo, players had the chance to become the Mask of Change, harnessing the power of Ardore as they faced the Authors, formidable enemies who keep the world in an unnatural stasis. The mechanics of collecting masks from defeated enemies to create custom versions and the ability to quickly switch between three different loadouts offered a strategic depth to the combat, something the Jyamma Games team emphasized as a standout feature.
“The influence of Etruscan civilization was crucial in the development of Falesia Magna, the main region of the game. We wanted this area to reflect the rich architecture, tradition, and customs of the Roman Empire, creating an environment that is both historical and imaginative,” explained a Jyamma Games representative. The design of the boss Giangurgolo, which combines elements of theatrical masks and mythical creatures like the Chimera of Arezzo, further underscores the cultural significance of Falesia Magna within the game’s narrative.
Enotria: The Last Song is set to be released on September 19, 2024, and will be available for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
