On the second day of gamescom asia 2024, Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry, Alvin Tan, delivered the opening event speech. He emphasized Singapore’s growing role in the gaming and e-sports industries, both locally and in the broader Asian region. Tan expressed gratitude to local and international partners for choosing Singapore as the platform to showcase innovation and creativity on a global stage.

One of the highlights of the day was the Indie Developers Pitch Competition, which attracted 55 submissions from developers worldwide. Thirteen finalists, including eight from Southeast Asia, presented their projects to a panel of judges. The competition's standout winners were Love In Tiny Spaces by Battlebrew Productions, which won Best Pitch; Project Guardian by Ammobox Studio for Best Game Design; and Lost and Found Co. by Bit Egg Inc., which was named Most Anticipated Game. These awards, including cash prizes and playtesting vouchers, will aid the developers in further refining their games.

In the entertainment area of gamescom asia, VIP guests got an exclusive first look at some of the industry's hottest titles. Among the attractions were highly anticipated pre-release games like Monster Hunter Wilds and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, as well as over 60 indie games. With companies like CAPCOM, PlayStation, and 4Divinity present, the excitement built as queues quickly formed. The entertainment area will officially open to the public on October 19.

Wan Hazmer, founder of Metronomik, gave a talk focusing on the importance of weaving local cultures into modern game design. He stressed how integrating regional heritage can enhance the longevity of a studio’s identity and bring a fresh perspective to indie games. Hazmer’s insights further highlighted the value of Southeast Asia's creative talent in the global gaming scene.

The day concluded with the B2B afterparty, celebrating the end of the business segment of gamescom asia. The event provided one last opportunity for networking, bringing together industry professionals, VIPs, media, and exhibitors. The afterparty wrapped up a successful business conference, setting the stage for more exciting events in 2025.
