Developer Old Cake Factory and publisher Metaroot have released the largest update since the Early Access debut of Goblin Sushi, a title that blends roguelike mechanics with the chaos of restaurant management simulators. The new content significantly expands the experience by introducing a brand new location, additional recipes, enemies, characters, and challenges designed for both returning and new players.

The headline addition takes players to the Shipwreck Restaurant, a completely new underwater area featuring a unique kitchen layout, fresh background art, themed goblins, and a wide selection of new dishes to prepare. This expansion aims to diversify gameplay by offering obstacles and opportunities distinct from those found in previous locations.

The update also introduces several new characters, including the Mailman Goblin, thirteen underwater goblins, the Underwater Landlord, and the Underwater Poopsie. To accompany the new setting, players will face two new bosses, the Poop Boss and the Ghost Boss, each bringing unique mechanics and challenges that require strategic adaptation throughout a run.

Among the additions focused on progression, the new Endless Mode allows players to keep rolling sushi for as long as possible, testing the effectiveness of their builds and upgrades over extended sessions. The update further expands the menu with twelve new sushi recipes and four new ingredients: tuna, pork, clam, and crab.

The kitchen has also received new equipment to broaden culinary possibilities. The Noodle Station and Ice Cream Station provide additional preparation options, reinforcing the fast paced and hectic nature of restaurant management.

The origins of the project stem from the team's shared appreciation for classic Flash cooking games centered on intense management gameplay. According to the developers, “The idea for Goblin Sushi came into our minds, when we were talking about old flash games we liked, when we realized we shared a passion for stressful micro-management cooking games. After that we knew we wanted to make it even more chaotic, which is why we combined it with rogue-like upgrade and progression mechanics. And the goblins just happened after that.” explained the Old Cake Factory team.
