This year's ceremony also highlighted initiatives that extend beyond game releases and showcases, as demonstrated by the recognition given to Games Done Quick. During gamescom GDQ, all donations and sponsorship proceeds will support Gaming for Democracy, an initiative focused on promoting democratic values and social engagement through gaming culture.

The distribution of the trophies also highlights the presence of major publishers alongside independent studios and initiatives focused on the social impact of the games industry.
