gamescom 2024 has shattered previous records, solidifying its position as the world’s largest gaming event. This year's edition brought together over 335,000 visitors from around 120 countries, with Friday and Saturday completely sold out. The online presence was equally impressive, reaching an unprecedented 310 million video views by Saturday evening, with over 40 million views alone for the Opening Night Live show, doubling last year’s figures. These numbers have set a new global benchmark, surpassing all previous records.

The event also saw a significant increase in trade visitors, totaling around 32,000, with notable growth from North America and Japan. This year's gamescom featured the new gamescom epix community adventure, which included digital trading cards, registering 2.5 million page views by Saturday evening. Additionally, both the gamescom congress and devcom developer conference achieved record-breaking attendance, further highlighting the event’s expanding influence.

Gerald Böse, President and CEO of Koelnmesse, emphasized gamescom's unparalleled global reach and its pivotal role in the gaming industry. He noted that the event's record-breaking digital engagement and rise in on-site visitors underscore its significance in uniting gaming fans worldwide, fostering innovation and partnerships like no other event. Felix Falk, Managing Director of the German Games Industry Association, echoed this sentiment, celebrating the event as a resounding success that cements gamescom's reputation as one of the most prestigious global event brands.

The gamescom city festival, held in downtown Cologne, drew around 80,000 people, adding to the event's unforgettable atmosphere. The festival further demonstrated the immense cultural and societal impact of games, as countries around the world continue to compete to be at the forefront of the gaming industry.

Looking ahead, gamescom 2025 is scheduled to take place from August 20 to 24, with the Opening Night Live set to kick off on August 19, 2025.
