The expansion Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust is now available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, expanding the game’s universe with a new campaign centered on the fate of New Edinburgh and its former colony, Aurora. The new DLC developed by 11 bit studios is accompanied by a dark atmospheric launch trailer, marked by a final warning from the Old Captain and decisions that will put humanity’s future at stake amid a new survival crisis.

The narrative takes players to a region where the colony established on a frozen lake awaits assistance while a volcano continues to burn relentlessly, creating a setting of constant tension. In this scenario, city leadership must find a balance between trust and strength to guide the population through a catastrophe that threatens everything they have built, in a story that reinforces the moral and political dilemmas that define the series.

The new content also introduces five new communities and factions, each with distinct origins, identities, and ideologies, adding further complexity to social relations and internal conflicts. The expansion brings new deadly environmental threats through the Tremors and Volcanic Night mechanics, as well as fresh narrative events and customization options designed to significantly reshape the gameplay experience.

Managing Aurora as an independent colony becomes one of the expansion's key strategic elements, allowing players to establish relationships through peaceful trade, ruthless extortion, or outright conquest. This system is complemented by two new scenario maps, five additional buildings and infrastructure hubs, and a new set of laws that broadens the political and administrative possibilities available to players.

The expansion reinforces the central idea that survival is never guaranteed in a world devastated by extreme cold and scarcity. Faced with difficult choices, natural disasters, and power struggles, this new chapter for New Edinburgh serves as a reminder that the city will endure only as long as its people can bear the price required to keep it alive.
