The independent studio 9 Lives Games Studio, based in Jakarta, Indonesia, has announced Drop Dead Party, a PvP arena game for four players that puts friendships to the test through sabotage and chaotic matches. The announcement was accompanied by a gameplay reveal trailer and the launch of the game's official Steam Store page, with a worldwide release planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The game eliminates public lobbies and matchmaking with strangers, restricting matches to groups of friends invited directly through Steam. Inspired by the classic game of hot potato, the experience turns the object passed between players into a bomb that threatens to explode, forcing participants to make quick decisions to avoid elimination and put their opponents in danger.
Matches last approximately five minutes, allowing players to use four types of tactical tools to sabotage their rivals: banana peels, shields, rockets, and deployable walls. Each tool offers different ways to interfere with the action, where survival depends on both the players' reactions and their ability to anticipate their friends' moves.
The game also features four playable characters, described as unpredictable contenders who enter the arena with secrets of their own. Battles take place in twisted circus-inspired arenas surrounded by explosive bombs, maintaining a constant sense of danger and increasing the pressure throughout each round.
With customizable match settings and rapid restarts, the game focuses on short, replayable confrontations without relying on team cooperation or unfamiliar players. The combination of direct sabotage, offensive tools, and dangerous arenas aims to turn gatherings among friends into unpredictable contests where every decision can jeopardize another player's chances of winning.
