Developer PIXELSPLIT has announced the launch of the fourth open playtest for Deadly Days: Roadtrip, giving players the chance to experience the latest improvements and additions before the final release. Key additions include new enemies, items, special events, full controller and Steam Deck support, enhanced visuals, and the introduction of the game's first NPC: a merchant.
Anyone with a Steam account can participate in the playtest for free until the Easter period, helping developers with valuable feedback. Thanks to over 800 suggestions received from the previous playtest, numerous improvements and innovations have been implemented, refining gameplay and enhancing the player experience.
Among the new features, the game now includes a completely revamped mission system and a special event midway through the journey. The newly introduced biomes influence the types of missions available, bringing greater variety. Performance has also been significantly improved, ensuring a smoother experience, especially on the Steam Deck.
Customization options have also been expanded. A more comprehensive settings menu has been added, allowing input mapping and various accessibility options. Additionally, all UI screens have been redesigned, and transition animations have been implemented to make the experience more intuitive and immersive.
In terms of balance, the game has become more challenging, but not to the point of frustrating new players. Character speed has been adjusted, epic weapon damage has been increased, and fire and poison systems have been reworked, making combat more dynamic and strategic.
The PIXELSPLIT team has been working diligently to improve the game, with an impressive record of 835 changes logged on GitHub. Now, the developers are eager to see how these enhancements are received by the community and gather more feedback for final adjustments.
Combining reverse bullet hell gameplay with strategic inventory management, *Deadly Days: Roadtrip* takes players on a thrilling survival journey through a zombie apocalypse. Gaining experience, collecting and combining items, and crafting more effective weapons will be essential to facing increasing waves of enemies and ensuring survival on the road.
