Path Games has revealed Dark Mass, a first-person psychological horror game set entirely underwater, coming soon to PC (Steam), PlayStation, and Xbox. To mark the announcement, a new trailer has been released, offering a glimpse into the mysteries and horrors lurking within the sunken manor.
The story follows Alice, a deep-sea explorer who, along with her brother Reed, discovers the wreckage of an ancient ship. However, beneath the ruins, an even more terrifying secret emerges: a manor lost in time, eerily preserved despite centuries underwater. Driven by curiosity, Alice ventures into its decaying corridors, only to realize that something watches from the darkness.
Isolation and presence intertwine as the protagonist investigates the secrets of the manor. With a walkie-talkie system, Reed becomes her only connection to the outside world. Inside, however, macabre puzzles inspired by historical rituals test her determination, while unknown forces make every decision a fight for survival.
The underwater environment is not just a backdrop but directly influences gameplay, introducing immersive mechanics that challenge movement and perception. Additionally, the presence of Silas, an entity trapped in the manor for centuries, turns every step into a terrifying experience, requiring stealth and strategy to evade its grasp.
With fully voiced dialogue and an engaging narrative, Alice's journey is shaped by player choices. Multiple possible endings ensure that every decision carries weight, making exploration even more intense and unpredictable.
The oppressive atmosphere, combined with the detailed design of the sunken manor, promises a unique experience in the psychological horror genre. Between disturbing puzzles and a relentless threat, the search for truth becomes a test of sanity and resilience.
Now available to wishlist on Steam, the game is coming soon to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, offering a chilling descent into the depths of the unknown.
