Dark Lessons, the new project from independent studio Tall Tide Games, already has a free demo available on Steam. The first-person psychological horror title invites players to experience an adventure inspired by the Lovecraftian universe, turning a simple afterschool visit into a desperate attempt to escape an increasingly oppressive environment.

In the story, the protagonist becomes trapped inside the home of their biology teacher, Mrs. Glower, after a sudden blackout plunges the house into darkness. Armed with only a candle to keep the shadows at bay, players must investigate the residence, solve inventory-based puzzles, and uncover secrets tied to the family's disturbing past in order to find a way out.

The demo offers approximately 30 minutes of gameplay and provides a glimpse of the atmosphere that will define the full release. Its design combines first-person exploration with classic adventure mechanics, focusing on gradual tension building and narrative-driven progression.

Visually, the project embraces a low-poly aesthetic inspired by the golden age of psychological horror games. The setting is further enhanced by an original soundtrack and an adaptive soundscape designed to heighten the sense of unease throughout the experience.

The demo also includes a variety of accessibility and customization features. Available options include field of view adjustments, gamma settings, toggleable head bob, and fully remappable controls for mouse and keyboard, traditional controllers, and Steam Deck.

The full version is scheduled for release in 2027 on Windows, macOS, and Linux. In addition, the game will feature subtitles in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese, making the experience accessible to players across multiple regions around the world.
