Second Stage Studio the creators of the competitive hit SpeedRunners announced Sprint City a new 2D competitive platformer fully focused on movement set to launch in Steam Early Access in 2026. The concept emphasizes speed flow and mechanical mastery placing players in a solarpunk city where on foot traversal is the core of the experience.
Designed as a single shared world the game seamlessly connects nearby players while parties remain linked during exploration. Owners can invite friends as guests directly through their browser allowing them to play for free which encourages intense time based challenges or more relaxed sessions to craft the perfect route through the city.
According to Second Stage Studio co owner and game designer Casper van Est "With Sprint City, we wanted to focus on what we love most in games and what we're best at, which is pure movement. It's a shared world multiplayer experience built around how good it can feel just to move around, so we worked really hard on a satisfying game feel and a visual style that never gets in the way of that."
The gameplay is built to deliver a strong sense of speed with precise and responsive controls that make every jump run and swing feel natural and addictive. Parkour mechanics allow players to wall run grapple and chain freerunning moves together maintaining momentum and outperforming others in direct competition or personal challenges.
The multiplayer component supports both racing and free roaming with challenges spread throughout the world that feed into global leaderboards. Players can jump in on Steam or group up with friends via browser play exploring open urban districts filled with shortcuts rooftops and hidden routes designed to refine every line.
In addition the game offers visual customization options with new gear unlockable between races and an original high tempo soundtrack that matches the flow of movement reinforcing the energetic identity of the experience.
