With the release of Blade Chimera set for January 16, 2025, Playism and Team Ladybug have unveiled exciting news for Metroidvania fans. The game is now available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop, offering a 10% discount until January 15. Players who already own previous Team Ladybug titles on the Nintendo Switch, such as Touhou Luna Nights and Record of Lodoss War - Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, can enjoy an exclusive 20% discount, further rewarding loyal fans of the franchise.
The studio also announced a special collaboration for the Steam version of the game. On launch day, Blade Chimera will be part of the mysterious "Metroidvania ??? ??? Bundle," which promises to delight genre enthusiasts. "We wanted to create something unique that celebrates not only our game but the Metroidvania universe as a whole," said a Team Ladybug representative. Additionally, the game will be included in the Team Ladybug Bundle and will feature a special launch promotion.
The developers emphasized that Blade Chimera features a significantly larger map than the studio's previous games, with numerous areas to explore and side quests to complete. "Our goal was to create a world that offered more depth and freedom to players, allowing for an immersive and expansive experience," the team shared. For those eager to dive in, a demo is already available on Steam, with progress transferable to the full version.
The story of Blade Chimera combines elements of science fiction and occultism. The protagonist, Shin, forms an unexpected alliance with Lux, a demoness who transforms into a sword and possesses unique abilities, such as manipulating time and restoring lost objects. Players will also explore a skill tree, unlocking features like fast travel and double jumps, while experimenting with a variety of weapons tailored to different combat styles.
With stunning graphics and a richly detailed universe, Blade Chimera promises to be a standout addition to the Metroidvania genre. Playism and Team Ladybug are confident that the game will appeal to both veteran fans and newcomers alike. "This is undoubtedly our most ambitious project to date, and we can’t wait to see the fans’ reception," the studio concluded. Blade Chimera will launch on Nintendo Switch and Steam on January 16, 2025.
