Black Jacket has officially received a release date and will launch on May 12 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The announcement was made by Mi'pu'mi Games in partnership with Skystone Games alongside a brand new gameplay trailer highlighting the game’s dark atmosphere and the strategic possibilities created through impossible card combinations.

The project blends narrative elements with roguelite mechanics through a darker reinterpretation of classic blackjack. In the story, players awaken trapped in the underworld among other lost souls, discovering that the only way back to life is by paying coins to the mysterious Ferryman who controls the crossing. To earn those coins, players must confront restless spirits also seeking escape from the afterlife, each carrying their own tragic past.

Matches are designed around strategy rather than pure luck. Opponents never reveal their faces, showing only their hands and playstyles. From there, players must study behavioral patterns, understand the curses tied to each rival, and exploit cards capable of bending the rules of the table itself.

Among the mechanics showcased are abilities that force enemies to overcommit, swap cards, manipulate values, and create unusual synergies capable of completely shifting the flow of battle. Every victory rewards valuable coins needed to progress, while every defeat pushes the possibility of escape even further away.

The narrative structure also unfolds gradually between encounters. As players advance, dialogues and events reveal more about the spirits they face as well as the protagonist’s own past, tying worldbuilding directly into the strategic progression of each match.

With a strong focus on strategy, behavioral analysis, and narrative progression, the title aims to stand out within the deckbuilder genre by combining gambling inspired mechanics with an atmosphere centered on mystery, loss, and survival beyond death.
