French indie studio Nova-box, a two-time Independent Games Festival narrative finalist for Seers Isle and Across the Grooves, has unveiled a new trailer for After the Wane and confirmed the visual novel's release date. The production will arrive on Steam and GOG on November 10, 2026, with versions for PC, Mac, and Linux, while a Nintendo Switch edition is planned for early 2027.

The story follows Lena, a young dancer who arrives in Paris determined to build a career while retracing the footsteps of her mother, also a dancer, who disappeared from her life during her childhood. As she becomes involved with different groups across the city, the protagonist finds herself caught between rival dance companies, romance, and an interest in urban occultism, while also dealing with an incorporeal voice that invades her thoughts and constantly comments on her actions.

According to the official description, "After the Wane is a visual novel following Lena, a young dancer striving to make a name for herself in Paris while retracing the footsteps of her absent mother. Caught between rival dance companies, romance, and urban occultism, she must also navigate an intrusive, incorporeal voice inside her head that comments on her every move." The narrative puts the character in situations where she can join an elite dance company, help new dancers at a local community center, or follow an independent path while deepening her connection with the occult.

The narrative structure features three main branches that expand into dozens of different variations and paths based on the player's decisions throughout the adventure. The main story can be completed in approximately four to six hours, depending on how many times it is replayed, while exploring all three main routes can take twice or even three times as long.

The production also embraces a handcrafted approach, having been developed entirely by hand without the use of artificial intelligence. Dance sequences feature hand animated rotoscoping, while hundreds of images were created specifically for the experience, reinforcing its vision as an interactive graphic novel with a high level of visual detail.

The soundtrack was composed and recorded specifically for the game, adapting to the player's choices and the atmosphere of each situation to enhance the narrative experience. The decision system is also designed to encourage replayability, allowing players to uncover different consequences, paths, and endings as Lena reshapes her relationship with the past, the future, and the supernatural events unfolding around her.
